Hi all,
After going through the nightmare of using my FVDI to read a pin code from Johnsons BSI and then causing BSI to go into Boot mode I have come up with this solution for any users with similar issues.
There is 2 ways of retrieving pin code from BSI:
1st is from OBD – this is the operation that is risky 60/40 chance of causing BSI to go into Boot Mode.
2nd is from direct read(BSI not opened up) with BSI removed – this works 100% of the time.
Solution 1: OBD read
This operation can only be done WITHOUT vehicle in Economy mode. Run engine for 15 minutes to give charge into battery. Attach battery charger. Disconnect both headlight connectors & remove wiper motor fuse(usually no.12 in engine fuse box). All doors closed & no power consumers on. Use Diagbox to deactivate economy mode in BSI – If option available. Use FVDI to read pin code.
THE REASON BSI GOES INTO BOOT MODE IS BECAUSE ‘ECONOMY MODE’ ACTIVATED DURING THE PIN CODE RETRIEVAL.
I’ve also used same procedure to change kilometres in instrument cluster/BSI and works okay.
Solution 2: Direct read
Remove the BSI from vehicle. Attach BSI on bench. Before reading pin the information from BSI can be recorded incase anything goes wrong during procedure. Use Diagbox/PPS to record configuration in BSI – BSI/REPAIR/CONFIGURATION/MANUAL CONFIGURATION then screenshot all of the options in each section. Use Diagbox to deactivate economy mode in BSI – If option available.
Use FVDI to record flash & configuration using “BSI EXCHANGE” – Read BSI only. This flash will now be stored in folder PSA in documents.
If the BSI has went into Boot mode then the existing flash in BSI has been corrupted. Reflash using FVDI with flash recorded in PSA folder.
If you haven’t got a saved flash then you will need to get a good flash for BSI from the helpful people on this site. Once flash has been loaded onto BSI the pin code & configuration will be lost from its memory. Relearn pin code to BSI with DIAGBOX & learn keys – configure BSI if necessary.

1. Install battery before write key and test all key buttons.
2. Only allowed upload V51 version key data. (If VVDI MB fails to write key via IR, it is normal)
3. Remove battery before get in car and activate key. Insert and unplug key for 5-6 times every 5 seconds. If the key can start vehicle, install battery, test the remote control and keyless go function.

WiFi JLR DoIP VCI is compatible with original SDD and Pathfinder software. But it uses it own driver. Here you can download software and driver for doip vci for free.
Note: The follow software and driver is for DoIP VCI clone (Item No. SP312).

Please pay more attention to the version of the DoIP VCI driver. It should always be the latest version. So you should update the driver without delay.
The above driver 19.04.28 driver is the current version (Aug. 2019). If newer version driver released, you can download latest version on official website as well (check picture below).
Connect with WIFI; (You can choose the Wifi named “DoIP-VCI-11D4”, and the last four numbers are in random.)
The Connection between the DoIP VCI and computer
Following the picture below, open the VCI Manager and click the “connect”
Check the connection status with the computer.
When it shows a green check mark, VCI is detected
Update of DoIP VCI’ firmware.
Open“VCI manager”
Then click the “VCI Update”
Click the “Start” and you can check the update progress on the right
Attention:
When you click the “start”, vci cannot be interrupted or stopped. Otherwise the JLR DoIP VCI will be damaged. You can disconnect when it finished.
SDD can get the hardware directly, it’s perfect if the icon is green.
PathFinder need to set the network interface.

Click “cancel”
It doesn’t connect successfully if it shows “SIM”“SimFiles”, you should select the communication interface as “JLR-JLR-DoIP, D-PDU API by Bosch” and VCI serial“86004905”. Now you can use it for diagnosis.

Inline7 runs the same driver as Inline6
Software activation is done via server. Need to confirm by server and it may take some time, after success, the software is combined with your computer.
Do not directly open the Inline 8.3 after installed, you need to go through the server software and use Inline 8.3.
After Inline 8.3 is authorized successfully, users can use 3 years for free for 70 times, generally the user is supposed to get authorization every month (that is within 3 years, after the times is used up, users can get authorization by themselves). After 3 years, you need to pay extra license.
5.After activation, users are not allowed to change laptop motherboard, RAM and CPU. If you change them, you have to submit the Inline 7 serial number to the seller for activation.

8.After input Dealer code and serial number, please click on ” Payment success”, then provide the dealer with the serial number for processing in the server. When it is done, click on ” Payment success” again and you will receive a message indicating success.
Insite 7.62, the best insite version for some Inline 5 users since new versions 8.xx (Insite 8.2) have to communicate online with their mother ship(Cummins) and if they can’t, will stop working. If you want Insite 8.xx, forget cummins insite download for free! Spend some dollars and go to cummins insite crack version – never upsets users.
The good is that, Insite 7.62 also work on the newer engines like CM2350, CM2250, CM871, CM870 and some others.
The last,
For better, Inline 5 is advised to used with Insite 7.62.
You should have a new one if Insite 8.3, coz it only works for Cummins Inline 6 and Inline 7 adapters. if Insite 8.5, you should have inline 6 only (tested on Aug., 2019)
