For owners and technicians working with newer Mercedes/Sprinter models equipped with keyless start, the persistent AdBlue level gauge on the dashboard can be a visual distraction, especially after the vehicle’s emissions system has been modified or “deleted.” While not a necessary procedure, removing this display can clean up the instrument cluster interface.
This guide outlines the coding steps required to turn off both the AdBlue level indicator and its accompanying bar graph.
You need quite a high-end diagnostic tool to do this. Autel/Launch/Xentry Monaco/Topdon can code it out if the instrument cluster once you’ve done an adblue delete.
How to turn off the adblue fill level on Mercedes dashboard?
Variant coding in instrument cluster guide.
Here we will show 2018 + Mercedes Sprinter AdBlue level dash coding using Topdon Phoneix Smart/Max/Elite diagnostic scanners. Launch has similar menu.
Procedure Overview
The modification is performed by coding the vehicle’s Instrument Cluster module using a specialized diagnostic scan tool. The process is straightforward but requires precise navigation through the coding menus.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Access the Instrument Cluster: Using your scan tool, navigate to the Instrument Cluster control unit.
Enter Coding Menu: Select the option to access the Variant Coding or Long Coding menu. The system may take a moment to load the available parameters.
Locate AdBlue Settings: Scroll down through the coding list to the parameters numbered in the mid-40s. Here, you will find two specific settings related to the AdBlue display.
Disable the Gauge:
Find the setting for the AdBlue level gauge and change its status to “Not Available.” Confirm the change by clicking OK.
Disable the Bar Graph:
Scroll further to locate the “AdBlue bar graph” setting.
Change this parameter to “Never Visible.” Click OK to confirm.
Write Coding: Ensure all changes are accepted and exit the coding menu. Hit Writing coding. The Topdon scan tool will typically write the new configuration to the module.
Result
Upon successful coding and restarting the instrument cluster, the AdBlue level gauge and the central bar graph will be completely removed from the dashboard display. This results in a cleaner, uncluttered screen, free from the now-irrelevant AdBlue reminders.
