SPS2 Fails to Program New GM Proximity Key Solution

Here are some common errors/problems when programming GM new style shark fin key using Techline Connect SPS2 and J2534 passthru device.

1). Communication error

For example:

Program a new proximity key on a 2022 Silverado with SPS2, get a communication error.

techline connect Communication error

Solution:

Disconnect battery for 10 minutes.

Disconnected the battery to the vehicle for 10 mintes.

Reboot the computer, disconnect vci. Then it will start working.

2). Immobilizer procedure failed

Failed at a 2023 Chevy Tahoe key with Sps2. 10 min wait then it failed. Says need update.  Add key only. Is it safe to update these modules?

techline connect Immobilizer procedure failed

Solution:

It is safe to update but then most likely the wait time will become 2 hours instead of 10 mins.

Don’t turn the ignition on like it asks you to in the beginning. Just open and close the door. Let dealer tool force ignition on.  Let sps force the ignition on. Still do the open and close door procedure. And all the instructions after 10 min security bypass.

To avoid updating, try the following:
– Don’t keep the working key inside so let SPS2 force opening the ignition on add a key as if it’s all key lost.
– Every minute or so open and close the door to keep the car awake.

If keeps having this problem even after updating bcm, and ecm, change another J2534 interface.

Some users switch cardiag3 from Autel VCI200. Some switch Rlink from VCI200. It works fine.

3). UEH101:null

Techline support keeps giving me error message while downloading, if there any other way?

techline connect UEH101:null

Solution:

Delete it and reinstall on a new computer.

Uninstalling and reinstalling with admin permissions and it works fine.

Keep good connection, and disable your firewall and Windows Defender.

How to Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS for Online Programming?

Autel MaxiVCI VCI200 dongle can be used as a J2534 passthru device for many original factory software. Here is an example of using VCI200 with Ford FJDS for online programming.

Model example: 2019  Ford F350 Super Duty

Function: Programming new SECM (steering effort control Module)

Device: Autel MaxiVCI V200

Software: FDRS (Buy the subscription)

Preparation:

Download PC suite and install driver for VCI200 as following:

How to Use Autel VCI200 as J2534 Passthru for Programming

This Ford F350 they change the steering wheel and need to program it.  If you don’t program it you get other faults like steering angle sensor no communication and other things.

It is a 2019 model so here use the fdrs and see it it will work.

Connect VCI200 interface with vehicle via OBD socket

Select device as Autel V200

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 1

FDRS reads the vin and everything and he’s directing us to use FJDS. Normally first when you buy the subscription for fjds or IDS it’s still like the same subscription can be used for the FDRS.

Launch FJDS

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 2

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 3

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 4

Start a new session

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 5

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 6

FJDS software ask to select VCI because it is not connected to FJDS but it did connect to the FDRS.

Select the VCI as Autel VCI200

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 7

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 8

Starts a new session again and it gather information related to this vehicle

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 9

Select Module Programming->Programmable Module Installation->SECM

Turn on the ignition switch
Confirm VIN

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 10

The diagnose tool was unable to obtain valid part numbers from the vehcle
Using the part numbers from the as-built database for this vehicle.
Look on as-bilt data on the network

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 11

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 12

Turn OFF the ignition switch
Install a New Module in vehicle

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 13

Turn on the ignition switch
Turn OFF ignition switch
Turn on the ignition switch

Start downloading as-built data online.

the SCCM module which is the steering effort control module.

Retrieved as-built data

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 14

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 15

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 16

It’s now downloading it onto the unit itself.

So what this software has do is they download it from the server and later download it to the unit itself.

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 17
Module installation completed.

you can see the part number and the date so normally.

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 18

Turn OFF ignition switch
Clear all CMDTCs

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 19
Turn on ignition switch
Erased all CMDTCs

Use Autel VCI200 with Ford FDRS 20

During this procedure first it takes long when doing self-test so that means is to scan the whole system on the vehicle then we need to tell you the fault code in them so at this moment

if you scan the whole system and you erase the fault codes in the system the moment you raise the fault code in the system everything should go off.
