Win10-VAS5054-ODIS-S-526:

Part 2: How to install ODIS-S 5.2.6 Postsetup 98.0.160?

For version 5.2.6 running 98.0.160….
Download Torrent 1, Torrent 2, Torrent 3 and Key Generator.
Make sure you have Java installed on your computer and it’s up-to-date. https://www.java.com/ES/download/

When completed, go to folder “Odis – S 5.2.6 without updates and postsetup”
Install “0.MS_Visual_C++2010 for W10”. If you already have it, it’ll tell you and don’t bother.
If you are using Windows 7, install the appropriate updates in either “0.Prerequirements x64 W7” for 64-bit systems or “x86” for 32-bit systems.
Install ODIS with “1.OffboardDiagSetup-Service_VWMCD_5_2_6-B52_6_0_2”
– Select your diagnostic interface. If you use VAS6154, select it and click next. If you use PassThru, select it and click next. If you use more than one, select one, click next, go back, select another, click next, etc. If you use an older 6054 interface, there are other instructions that I cannot help you with.
Install will ask you for license file, direct it to the “license.dat” file located in “2.ODIS-S 5.2.6 Patch+License-Full”
Install will ask you for some PostSetup configuration data, direct it to the folder “ODIS-Service_update_5_2_6-EU_20200317_98.0.140” (Torrent 2)

Complete installation.

Once completed, copy “OffboardDiagLauncher.exe” to the ODIS installation folder. (mine is “C:\Program Files (x86)\Offboard_Diagnostic_Information_System_Service”)
Launch ODIS… To get past the “Warnings/notes”, scroll to bottom and click OK.
At some point, I forget when, ODIS will ask you for registration information. Naturally, this is where the Key Generator is used.
Enter your registration name…
Click “Hardware ID” and paste your HWID from the ODIS registration prompt…
Click “Generate” and copy your registration key to the ODIS registration prompt…
ODIS should prompt you about an update server. Similar to PostSetup configuration data, direct it to the folder “ODIS-Service_update_5_2_6-EU_20200317_98.0.160” (Torrent 3)
It should then begin updating to the 98.0.160 data.
— IF IT DOES NOT DO THIS —
Click Admin
Go to Connections tab
Click Mirror Server 2
for Mirror server URL select the 98.0.160 folder (Torrent 3)
Save.

In the right pane, expand Extras and click Update. Data should begin updating to 98.0.160.

ODIS Adaptation Manual: KWP & UDS Control Modules

Look here: How to do adaptation using ODIS-Service software for control modules with KWP or UDS.

The configuration and operation differ depending on whether the adaptation will be performed with KWP or UDS control modules

Control modules with KWP protocol

At the beginning of the function, the function version must be selected first on some control modules
odis-control-module-adaptation-1
After selecting the function versions and confirming with OK,the Adaptation view is shown.
First, a adaptation channel must be selected there.
KWP1281 has channels 0 through 99, KWP2000 has channels 0 through 255.
In both cases, channel 0 as a special function:
Selecting is resets all control module adaptation channels.
odis-control-module-adaptation-2
To select a channel in ODIS, [1] enter channel number in the entry field click Select Channel or with Enter to confirm.
The value is checked for correctness when it is entered. If the number is outside of the permissible value range or
if the field is empty, the field appears in red and the Select Channel screen button is deactivated.
Select Channel: Selects the channel entered.
New adaptation values are entered in the Entry [2] field.
Actual Value: The adaptation value read from the control module.
Test value: the current test value. Initially identical with the value in the actual value column.
Input: the value entered by the user. Initially identical with the value in the actual value column.
There are four screen buttons on the right side of the view:
Send test value: Send the value from the Entry field for testing to the control module. The value is stored there
only temporarily.
Transfer: programs the changed adaptation value into the control module. This value is stored permanently.
Reset: resets the test value to the original value.
Reset all: if test values were set on more than one channel, they will be reset to their respective initial values as long as the new values were not programmed into the control module using the Transferfunction. This screen button does the same as channel 0. The user must confirm this action in a dialog:
odis-control-module-adaptation-3
Yes: Resets the test values on all channel to their original value.
No: Closes the dialog without resetting the test values.

As long as it is supported by the control module or its data, measured values [3] are read from the control module
and shown in a list and are updated periodically.

To change the adaptation value for a channel, complete the following steps:
  1. Channel [1].
  2. Click Select channel to confirm.
  3. Change the adaptation value in the entry field and confirm with the send test value or with Enter. The value
is then sent to the control module as the new test value. This process can be repeated as often as desired. A validity test is not performed while entering. If the entered value lies outside of the valid value range, the Entry field turns red and the Send test value and Accept screen buttons are deactivated.

Example:
Four channels were selected in the illustrations above. For the instrument cluster control module used here in the example, the language shown is set in this channel. Value 1 stands for German and value 2 stands for English. If the user now sets the test value to 2, all messages in the instrument cluster display will appear in English until another test value is entered, the Reset button is pressed or another channel is selected.

As long as the changed value has not been saved in the control module yet, the user can click the Reset button to reset the test value back to the original value (which is the value in the Actual Value column). The test value is also reset when a new channel is selected or when changing or closing tabs.

  1. If the correct test value was determined, clicking the Transfer button will save it in the control module. Only then is the value in the actual value column set to the new value. After saving, the Reset button is deactivated.
It is also possible to apply a newly entered value without Send test value.

Control modules with UDS protocol

With UDS control modules, all of the available adaptation functions for the selected control module are listed in a table when you switch to the Adaptation tab. They can be used to change the control module adaptation values.

This is shown in the following illustration using the control module with diagnostic address 17 (instrument cluster):
odis-control-module-adaptation-4
The adaptation functions table has four columns:
Adaptation/Parameter: the name of the adaptation function or parameter.
Current value: the parameter value read out from the control module. Input: the new parameter value. Click in the Input column for the desired parameter to change the value. The new value can be selected from a list or entered as free text, depending on the parameter type [3] .
Unit: the unit of the adaptation value.

Each ODIS adaptation function [1] has parameters [2]. They are hidden by default. You can double-click in the line or click the + in front of the function name to display them. Double-clicking again or clicking on – hides the parameter list again.

To show the parameters for all functions at once, click the [+] button at the bottom right of the table. Clicking [-] will then close all of the open parameter lists at once. Opening the lists may take some time, depending on the number of available functions.

Note:
All values that have not been saved or lost when parameter lists are closed. A message will warn the user about this:
odis-control-module-adaptation-5
Yes: the values that were entered are discarded and the parameter list is closed.
No: the parameter list stays open and the values entered remain.

There is an entry field under the table which can be used to filter the adaptation functions.

Filter: If texts or partial texts are entered in the filter field, then only the adaptation functions are displayed, that contain the name of the text or partial text.

There are three screen buttons at the bottom of the view:
Restore: restores the value for the selected adaptation function that was saved in the control before the last programming procedure. Clicking the button displays the last values used in the Input column. These apply only to the adaptation values visible. To program the restored values into the control module, click the Transfer button.

Restore all: restores the value for all adaptation functions that was saved in the control before the last programming procedure. Clicking the button displays the last values used in the Input column. To program the restored values into the control module, click the Transfer button.

Transfer: once the values for all desired adaptation channels have been changed, they can be saved by pressing the Transfer button. These apply only to the adaptation values visible. The user must confirm the saving process:
odis-control-module-adaptation-6
Yes: the new adaptation values will be written.
No: the adaptation values are not written into the control module.

Reset control module: this option is only active for control modules that support it. If there is a check mark, the control module will be reset after programming the adaptation values.

Before saving, a validity check is performed on the parameter values that were entered as free text. If this check is not successful, the values will not be written into the control module and the user will be informed about the cause in an error message:
odis-control-module-adaptation-7
If the new values were saved successfully, then will then be displayed in the Current value column.

Using the keyboard:
Using the arrow keys on the keyboard allow you to navigate between the individual lines in the table. In the edit mode in the Entry field, you can change using the spacebar or the F2 button. Using the enter key applies the new value. Using the ESC key leaves the edit mode without applying the value.

How to do online ODIS component protection VW/Audi

ODIS component protection user manual for newbies:

What is ODIS component protection:

Component protection is a VW Audi Group database. It tracks each individual electronic component, and which vehicle it is allocated to.
Essentially, component protection acts like an electronic padlock, tethering components to your vehicle. If we need to undertake any coding, adaptions, or basic settings of a component we need to release its padlock. That’s where ODIS comes in.

Component protection can be removed by any number of entities – both legitimate, and otherwise.

vag-odis-component-protection-1
vag-odis-component-protection-2
Why the component protection is necessary:
Cars are usually stolen for those parts with the highest value – engines, gearboxes, interiors, wheels. Assuming you have the various ECUs to go with the major mechanical components you can swap them into a car with a major mechanical fault and it will run because it ‘sees’ the associated boxes it expects to see.

Any independent garage regularly working on VAG cars will be needing to acquire the software licence for ODIS to be able to make any updates to newer vehicles, if they wish to go through the correct channels for removing CP, or even coding retrofits or replacing broken parts.

What do you need for component protection:
  1. ODIS software
  2. Use name and password are unique to each and every subscriber of ODIS
  3. VAG diagnostic tool confirmed to work, such as VAS5054AVAS 6154Vxdiag VCX Nano
  4. A good laptop/PC better running Windows 7 operation system

Note that we’re not talking about the original or copy, but a working scan tool and program. It’s possible to have a good success of component protection test at a low price if with ODIS crack and Chinese copy like VAS 5054A.

How to do VW/Audi component protection with ODIS:

Connect a VAG diagnostic tool  to the car, to work with ODIS sw
(The program, Offboard Diagnostic Information System Service for the Volkswagen Group, is used during workshop diagnosis and can identify vehicle control modules, read DTC memory entries and assist with vehicle repairs through Guided Fault Finding. Functions such as measurement support, flashing control modules and vehicle self-diagnosis expand the range of application. All important information and services from the Volkswagen Group are available while working via a network connection to the group systems. Offboard Diagnostic Information System Service is designed for all brands in the Volkswagen group.)

Tips and guides: component protection

Car: 2009 Audi a4 8k
I have a problem with component protection removal and hope someone can help. Today I tried to adapt a restyling dash on a 2009 audi a4 8k with no success. Connected the FVDI selected component protection, generation 2, instrument cluster, the program connected to the clster just fine and made it virgin, loaded the confdata from the 8T0 907 468 gateway 25640 eeprom but it fails to set the component protection, it says that maybe the confdata is from another car. I’ve tried to read the 25640 4-5 times with 3 different programmers but with no success. Has anyone ever experienced something like this???

Tips and guides:
this problem if cluster was made virgin with avdi odis cant remove cp anymore.
Also i had this problem on ezs.
So it is better to use just odis and forget avdi solution.

I know how to solve the problem :
  1. Read eeprom (25640) from another gateway (f.e: 8K0 8T0 before 2012) and try if it’s ok to fvdi
  2. copy/paste part (f.e: 0x0000 – 0x0300 of another – CORRECT FOR FVDI DUMP) to your’s dump
  3. Try to work in FVDI – if you have still message about incorrect dump you have to copy/past more (another) part from donor gateway

Car: Passat B6
So does any one know the process of removing component protection from an mib2? I am trying to fit this into my b6 passat I can get access to Odis but how do I remove component protection.

Tips and guides:

YOU, can’t…

The dealer has to do it, because their system connects to an on-line database
with the information on the radio to remove CP, to code it for another VIN. It
is an anti-theft measure.

ODIS will connect to VW and FAZIT database to check if the unit is stolen. It’ll then check SVM to see if it’s up to date and remove component protection.

Here is a link describing GEKO which is the system which policies the component
protection and how EU nations must have CP enabled:
https://erwin.volkswagen.de/erwin/pe…ssionid=9887F2

FROM SSP 296 (VAS 5051)
===================

Central data base FAZIT
An essential immobilizer 4 component is the central data base FAZIT at Audi in Ingolstadt.
FAZIT in German stands for Vehicle information and central identification tool. This data base
contains all the theft-specific data of the control units integrated into the “Immobilizer” and
“Component protection” functions. The control units involved cannot be adapted without an
on-line link to FAZIT.

RossTech even says: At the present time the Component Protection can only be learned/disabled
using the Factory Tool in Combination with an online Connection. Every Audi Dealer/Service should
be able to perform this Procedure.

ABRITES commander for VAG has limited CP removal functionality.

Car: 2014 S5 Cabrio
Retrofitting Adaptive Cruise on 2014 S5 Cabrio and need to remove CP from the gateway, radar module, and instrument panel i bought. How can i do that? I have a OBDEleven/ VagCom… tips?

Tips and guides:

You cannot remove component protection with either of those tools. Component protection can only be removed by ODIS or depending on the component can be suppressed (such as MMI) but you’ll still see a component protection error on the gateway.

I believe having CP deactivated on the car entirely is a dealer job and not all dealers will do it.

You need the help of a specialist. Search for Alex Szaniawski / VW Retrofits on Facebook. I’ve used him before and found him to be very good.
