Will Autel Change Ford Solenoid Body Strategy and ID?

Question:

Am I able to change the solenoid body strategy and ID on a 2018 ford f150 with Autel MaxiSys Ultra scanner, I don’t see the option for it.

autel change the solenoid body strategy and ID

Use Forscan or Ford FJDS/FDRS.  You cannot do this with the scanner.

It requires access to the Ford Server (something Autel doesn’t have). The solenoid ID is embedded in the software and you need Ford software to do this.

You can use a PC program called ForScan and your Autel’s VCI for connecting to the vehicle.

Forscan is easy. A lot before 2011 will give a popup error regarding the TRID. In those cases, IDS/FJDS is needed. Then 2018-up FDRS vehicles will give an error that the “service procedure was interrupted”, and you’ll need FDRS.

Just depends on the vehicle. Both options are very affordable. You can get a cheap VXDIAG VCX NANO Ford J2534 or Autel Maxiflash VCI for Forscan and FDRS software. Always have a backup plan.

Tips to change Ford Solenoid Body Strategy and ID with Forscan:

1) update to latest version of forscan, connect to the car.

2) click on the configuration and programming button (the diamond below the wrench),

select transmission characterization update,

select play at the bottom, click on OK, click OK again (update by solenoid strategy number should be highlighted), type in the new number (located on the drivers side of the trans, something like 2127292576721), select OK; if you haven't already downloaded the file it will ask to, then it will load the file.

3) select Transmission Repairs with replacement main control/valve body, then click OK; it should be it.

No need to update/program solenoid strategy unless swapping to a different valve body.

How to Use VNCI MF J2534 with Ford FDRS?

$83 VNCI MF J2534 adapter was tested working with Ford FDRS for online programming.  It is much cheaper than another j2534 passthru (MDI2, VCM2 etc)

Use VNCI MF J2534 with Ford FDRS 1

The setup procedure should be similar to other J2534 adapters.

For example, set up vxdiag with Ford FDRS

How to Set up VXDIAG VCX NANO for Ford IDS, ForScan, FJDS and FDRS?

But need a different driver for VNCI MF J2534

VNCI MF J2534 IDS Loader 1.6

Download and Install VNCI driver

Download and install FDRS software from here. You will need a license to run this software and can be purchased here (2-day FDRS license cost $50)
Launch FDRS, you will be prompted to enter the license that you have just purchased. Login using your credentials created on Motorcraft website. Make sure you select Non-Dealer Motorcraft as User Type

Use VNCI MF J2534 with Ford FDRS 2

Connect your VNCI MF J2534 Scanner to your truck’s ODBII port and connect the USB cable to the PC running FDRS. Once FDRS Device Manager pops up, make sure you select Other Device, in the drop-down dialog select RKW-VNCI.

Use VNCI MF J2534 with Ford FDRS 3

What Tool to Program 2023 Ford F-150 Key?

What tool to program 2023 Ford F-150 key with active alarm?

Autel IM608 and smart pro cannot do 21+ F150. Only with dealer software. Got to have a NASTF subscription and a Ford tech license.

You can program all the new Ford models with NASTF and annual Ford License FDRS. It costs you $50 for 3 days. $50 is easily built into the key price.

You’ll need a laptop, a J2534 pass thru device, I use my Jbox from my Autel. And you’ll need nastf and a subscription to fdjs/fdrs.  You also need a NASTF ID and will need paperwork and ID of customer.

You can also use AE Tools jbox, cardiaq, vxdiag vcx nano Ford etc j2534 devices.

For example:

2023 Ford F-150. With J2534 and FDRS dealership software. Was a little nervous about this one with an active alarm. But all well. Programmed 2 keys no problem.

Question: Where to download the patch for IDS & FJDS?

Answer: The patch you’re using comes from an old version of the software.

Ford has changed its way of getting file from the server since ( i think ) v114 or v115. That means you won’t be able to access all the “online” functions with a patched software. You need the real license.
You can still put files directly into the calibration folder manually and use it offline.

Here is the IDS patch free download, you can try it at your own risk:

Question: Does this version work with VCMII clone? VCMII version SP177-C.

Answer: Yes, with an official license.

Question: All of them can be installed on the same OS? Ford with Mazda…

Answer: No, need to use a different Windows.

IDS. IDS provides complete dealership level vehicle diagnostic coverage for all 1996 to select 2018 Ford, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles. IDS requires the use of Ford diagnostic hardware including VCM, VCM II, and VCMM devices. The IDS software license includes time-based access to the IDS software, software updates, calibration files.

FJDS provides module reprogramming software that covers 1996 to select 2018 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury module reprogramming functions, plus complete dealership level diagnostic software for all 2018 to present Ford and Lincoln vehicles. FJDS is designed for use with J2534 compatible Vehicle Communications Interfaces (VCI) including Ford diagnostic hardware (VCM II, or VCMM). The FJDS software license includes time-based access to the FJDS software, software updates, and calibration files.

FDRS – next-generation factory Ford Motor Company vehicle diagnostic Software designed for use with VCM II, VCMM, and J2534 compatible VCI. FDRS provides complete dealership-level vehicle diagnostic coverage for some 2018 and forward vehicles. FDRS provides superior capabilities, is more user-friendly, and provides more diagnostic tools than IDS. The cloud-based system ensures the technician is provided the latest software every time FDRS logs into the Ford network.
