Autohex II Mileage Correction Function Under Test?

Question how to perform mileage correction on e90 with autohox ii bmw? Getting function under Test. Need the cluster, cas, and key to read correctly.

You can do the job with hextag.

You need to do CAS mileage on HexProg software need to do on bench cluster and CAS.

In hextag,

1. Take out CAS and cluster. Set CAS mileage as 0. Write

2. Read cluster EEPROM, put km, write, easy.

if you are getting error on editing eeprom, you can try unplug and connect power to hexprog after edit then only write eeprom back.

For BMW FEM/BDC system:

you need to reset FEM/BDC mileage to 0 on autohex ii unlock option and edit in cluster the desired mileage using hextag.

Autohex can reset the mileage of FEM/BDC to zero this will help when you replace fem from one car to another.
Before you mount FEM/BDC back to the car you have to modify mileage in KOMBI (Set kombi chip as the desired mileage, this can be done by HexTag Tool) Once fem is connected back to car after reset it will adapt mileage from kombi and store original mileage. There are options for reset mileage alone or can do both unlock and reset mileage.

If getting this error while resetting mileage, the mileage was reset from the first unlock…the message says that you must update fem before add key or change vin/isn….unlock and mileage was ok.

Which Tool to Read BMW CAS3++ ME9.2 ISN?

 2008 BMW X5 idrive with CAS3++ all keys lost. Autel IM608 says no support for reading ISN for ME9.2. I need long ISN to write to CAS3. What is everyone else using for this DME?

 

 

Suggestion:

CAS3 could be done via obd2, Cas 3 ++ Istap it best to pull eeprom bin file and make key with DME ISN. It can’t do 64 attempts if it’s got ME9.2 N62 engine ECU, this CAS3 is encrypted. These V8 models can have encrypted CAS3+ asking for 32-digit ISN to decrypt, but DME only uses 4-digit ISN.

You need isn don’t do 64 attempts. You could damage starter and get blamed.  64 attempts is only in car through obd not on bench at home, you need to pull engine computer and read isn.

AutoHex IIYanhua Mini ACDPKtag boot mode, BDM100, CGpro, MPPS etc. Even then it’s just gonna give you 4 digit ISN, You’ll have to send it to someone with AutoHex and have them convert it to 32 digit ISN! ME9.2 sucks!!

Read ME9.2 ECU with ECU programmers and send dump to someone with autohex to help extract long ISN from flash or read it with autohex/ACDP.

Here is the operation guide to read ME9+ ISN with ACDP.

Preparation:

Follow the wiring diagram above to connect ACDP, OBP+ ICP adapter, ME9+ board and ME9.2 DME
Run Mini ACDP APP
Select “BMW”-> “DME ISN”-> “OBD/CAN Mode Read/Write ISN”-> Select N62 DME type you desired -> “Start”
Check if the device has been connected
Test the device connection and network
Start reading DME data…
Check if the system info read out is correct
(System info incl. DME type, VIN, part number, variant index, diagnosis index, coding index and date)
Save the ISN data

Which Tool to Reset ISN from BMW G Series EGS 8HP

 Question: Is there any tool can read ISN from EGS of BMW E or F or G chassis?

Answer: Autohex II BMW.

 

Autohex II is the only tool can read ISN from all EGS 8HP (E and F and G), as well as resetting ISN.  You can reset ISN from all models of EGS 8HP.  CGDI BMW or Yanhua ACDP supports only E and F series, not G.
Reading ISN from EGS is a very powerful function for Autohex users especially when they meet a lost DME or when they want to add a key when all keys lost (extra option to read ISN).
Reading ISN from EGS by Autohex takes less than 15 seconds job, while resetting ISN in EGS takes less than 30 seconds.

Connection with EGS via OBD will come through the gateway, which will filter the factory mode messages. So it is not possible to plug Autohex by OBD and forcing the EGS to enter factory session. You need to make a direct connection between Autohex and EGS.

Is that mean to read isn from OBD2? OBD is available for resetting only (limited support), the function we are talking about works on Factory Mode (bench mode).

Repair Corrupted BMW CAS3 Data with Hextag

 Sometimes BMW CAS3+ eeprom data is corrupted after bad reflash/downgrading and there is no communication with it and no ignition on car. Many devices will kill CAS3+ when downgrading via OBD, Xhorse VVDI2, Yanhua ACDP, IM608, AVDI even Autohex II without a sufficient power supply.

If done via obd, 14.2 always with maintainer. If data is corrupted, no need to make backup, even if something happened OBD without backup you can repair it in hextag.

 

How do I recover data/restore with Hexprog? What is the procedure to repair CAS corruption? under what option?

 

Hextag has an option for this can change from programming mode to normal mode probably happens when downgrades fail. You can read eeprom and check CAS in programming mode or normal mode.  edit option in eeprom and you need to write another flash also.

If you have autohex you can check on it first if can solve it OBD itself.  When it comes to Hextag you can check from edit option in EEPROM if CAS in programming mode or normal mode. If in programming change it to normal and write eeprom back. Also you need to change Flash.

Try to recover the original CAS with following steps:

Find good flash file from same part number CAS. Write it to CAS using hexprog.

Read original eeprom, change line 0F90 (first three columns) to DA AA 55, write back.

Perform individual programming (using key programmer on bench).

CAS should be alive after this.

These step should bring the CAS back to life. Now you can learn new key (sometimes you don’t need DME ISN) but it may ask you for ISN which autohex ii and some other devices can extract DME ISN for you.

Read ISN EDC16c35 by CGDI, Autohex or VVDI

 How to read ISN of EDC16c35 (for example in encrypted CAS3 + when all keys are lost)? An increasing number of locksmiths verified CGDI Yes, Autohex Yes, VVDI No.

Autohex: Yes, but not on bench

Tried ISN extraction via ON-BENCH, didn’t work

Finally succeeded with the following steps:
-> copy content of 96540 eeprom of original-ECU to donor-ecu
-> coded the donor-ecu to the car
-> updated the software of the donor-ecu
-> EWS alignment

 

CGDI BMW programmer: Yes

Oh I surprised, I can read ISN of EDC16c35 right with CGDI and AVDI but not change.

 

Path:

Open CGDI software -> select “BMW ISN Read Write” -> select ECU type -> click on “Read DME ISN” and then after it succeed, click on “Write DME ISN”.

It’s nice feature is it come with wiring diagram.

 

Good to know:

CGDI BMW programmer wins in ISN reading /writing for a wide range of DME. And it is available with individual BMW ISN reading authorization.

Xhorse VVD2Failed

I bought Xhorse VVDI2 new, can‘t read ISN of EDC16c35 . Not on bench not in car.

I think VVDI II cannot read 2 bytes ISN.

 

Path: open VVDI2 Quick Start -> BMW -> Key Learn -> ECU/CAS ISN -> Type E-Series ISN -EDC16xx.

No matter what you select “Diagram”, “Read ECU information”, “Read ECU ISN”, it will pop up not supported yet or failed.

Autohex II BMW All Function Service Disabled Solution

 Problem:

I have received the autohex ii bmw full version, but i cannot get it work. Saying all function services disabled and cannot initialize connection with WVCI.

Solution:

The error was caused by not getting the autohex ii activated.

Provide autohex serial number (on the back of the main unit) to us to activate.

BMW Explorer, Autohex, VVDI2 Which for BMW Guys

BMW guys- I’m on the fence about which to buy.
BMW Explorer
AutoHex
VVDI2
I do a lot of DME exchanges and lost key work. I have IM608 which does some of what I need, but is flakey and has messed up some CAS3+ files recently. I also have older fvdi, which is also flakey.
Obviously I want the best coverage with the lowest cost, but if autohex is THAT much better, I will pull the trigger.


User experience and reviews:

Can’t fault autohex and the backup is excellent if you are struggling they will get on teamviewer also hextag for cloning ecus is excellent and is also good on all Cas units and frm

I have VVDI2, VVDI Prog, AutoHex, Hextag. To cover all jobs all of those are needed. Sometimes one won't do a job and the other will, vice versa. Sometimes both tools are needed to do a job. You need both really.

3)
My vote is BMW explorer. I own them all, explorer just simply works.  If explorer releases a feature, a month later it’s cloned into the other tool.

4).
Vvdi prog, vvdi2, Autel, acdp, Autohex are your basics.

5).
Bmw Explorer, autohex , hextag and Vvdi prog. You can do 90% of the BMW’s on this planet. Buy also Yanhua mini ACDP and you can do 94% of all BMW’s on this planet. Explorer allows a lot via obd.  Autohex allows a lot on bench. Mini ACDP allows many new Dme / dde isn / cloning and is also very user friendly. ACDP is safe as long as you have good internet and wifi its perfect.

6).
Explorer does it cas4 via OBD in 1.5 minute. Yanhua acdp does it in 3 minutes. Autohex does it on bench in 3 minutes.
Vvdi2 kills it via obd / bench in 30 seconds (it is ok if keep voltage to v13-v14).

7).
BMW Explorer- you have to buy everything individually. But best on the market. Quickest tool for cas4 obd. Autohex for the price is good which you get hexprog with reads all isns no problem.

Autohex is very very GOOD and they have the best support ever!

Vvdi2 for beginners stop use long time ago.
Autohex2 like it a lot.
Made a lot of money and it is easy to use it.
Explorer TOP OF THE LINE & I LOVE IT.

Acdp Mini does cas4 obd. All these tools will do this. But acdp is the cheapest.

I have vvdi2 and Autohex full and love my Autohex. If I did it again I’d prolly buy bmw explorer and then buy hextag sense explorer doesn’t do any eeprom it you’ll also want tango to go with it. All 3 tools will compliment each other well.

Which Tool Can Read/Write/Change BMW ISN?

Here is all about BMW ISN (DME DDE EWS CAS).


ISN is not a software, but rather it is the immobilizer key code that the EWS or CAS module (the immobilizer security module). Newer cars’ ISNs use a starting code that is stored in the DME (or DDE if a diesel car) and then change the code (rolling code) with each successful engine start. The EWS/CAS and DME/DDE stored ISN must match, or else the car will not start. There is no BMW software that does anything with the ISN, besides the first time DME to EWS/CAS pairing (on virgin DME or virgin EWS)
There are aftermarket (non-BMW) software that help with ISN identification and maybe even modification, but this is done after reading a module’s EEPROM or flash memory. This requires very intensive knowledge of electronics, and some expensive interfaces.
Some ECUs have the ISN in a OTP section (one time programming) of the memory (ex: MSD80 DME of the 335i), so essentially that ECU is married for life, you cannot edit anything to that ISN. There are very expensive interfaces that can edit the EWS or CAS to match the used DME, but this is besides the point.
Those interfaces include genuine AVDI, FVDI, or Autohex.
And if you are talking about a little piece of software called “BMW ISN”, this is an aftermarket program that goes together with yet another expensive interface, BMW Explorer or Autohex ii, that can edit the ISN in the EWS or CAS. Mostly useless without proper interfaces and tools.

BMW ISN Reading and writing can be used from Autohex II software: CAS DME ISN Manager, This advanced function can do the following:
  • Read and Write ISN for CAS1, CAS2, CAS3 and CAS3+ (2 bytes ISN, 4 digits).
  • Read and Write SK (ISN 128 bits, 32 digits) for CAS1, CAS2, CAS3 and CAS3+.
  • Read all DME ISN for E series (2 bytes ISN, 4 digits).
  • Read all DME SK (ISN 128 bits, 32 digits) except MSS65 in E series, it supports SK writing to most of these DMEs.
  • Read most DDE ISN (2 bytes ISN, 4 digits) in E series (2003-2006).
  • Read and Write All DDE SK (ISN 128 bits, 32 digits) in E series (2006 and up).
  • Read ISN for EGS 6HP in E Series, and automatically matching with CAS.
  • Read and Write BMW ISN for most of BOSCH DMEs in F series.
Read and Write ISN in CAS:
Some CAS3+ part numbers require CAS Firmware before you can read/write BMW ISN. You will get a message from Autohex Software to notify you about using this function before you do any operation in CAS ISN.
To do BMW ISN Editing for CAS: from CAS DME ISN Manager, select option 1, you will get a window like below:

CAS ISN: is 4 bytes (8 digits) ISN, the last 4 digits represent the DME ISN, the DMEs that have only 4 digits ISN (like MSV70,ME9N45,DDE 5,…) are considered old, while the total 8 digits represent the 6HP EGS ISN.
CAS SK: is 16 byte (32 digits, 128 bits) ISN, this is the new ISN used in all new DMEs and DDEs (MSV80, MSD81, MSS60, MEV17_2, MEVD172Y,…), It also represent the ISN in 8HP EGS.
From this window you can save this info into file, as well as load saved ISN from a DME or CAS and write it into the current CAS.

Changing ISN in BMW and Mini DDE/DME

In BMW E series and Mini cooper you will see a window looks like above, A notable ISN Mode can be seen (ISN Mode: Read / Write), while the read/write ISN is supported in all DMEs in F series.
This means that Autohex II is almost able to change the DME ISN, this is a very important feature because we will not need to touch the CAS ISN.
The best practice when working on DME/DDE ISN is to avoid (if applicable) changing BMW ISN in CAS because:
  • You may have to do CAS Firmware before you can write ISN into CAS.
  • Some CAS part numbers (938XXXX, 939XXXX) don’t accept long ISN editing, only ISN reading is allowed.
  • If the car is equipped with an EGS 8HP which shares the same ISN (SK) in DME and CAS, it will be locked when you modify CAS ISN to be matched with DME/DDE (as a result EGS 8HP ISN differs from CAS ISN).
If you see the status of ISN Mode is Read/Write you can match ISN as follow:
  • Read ISN from old DME/DDE, and save it as a file ( see above picture).
  • Replace the defected DME/DDE with the donor.
  • Write the saved ISN from original DME/DDE into this Ecu.
  • Go to Indiv programming and program the Ecu (optional, or you have to at least do coding).
  • You are done! Start the car.
In the case of DME is read only (MSD81, MSD85,…), there is a solution to modify BMW ISN in these modules via ISN Tricore boot mode using Autohex II tool.
