What Tool to Change Jeep Cherokee D70F3525 Mileage?

 What tools do you use to read this mcu and change the mileage for a 2015-2018 Jeep Cherokee cluster? It’s a D70F3525 without an external EEPROM.

Here is the clue.

If MCU is V850 D70F3525 then there is no external eeprom. Only NEC. This cluster does not have an eeprom. Its made by Continental.

They have 2 different clusters on 2018 Cherokee.

They fit them according to the trim (limited , basic), not grand Cherokee one is a small screen and the other has a larger TFT, both have the D70F3525 without external eeprom , the one with the big screen you are able to change mileage with obdstar x300 through can wires but not the one with small screen.

They still use processors only without external eeprom and it a dynamic memory, in other Jeeps like the Compass, Renegade 2017-2022 the new possessor is a BGA D7F701343.

These clusters are mostly done through obd2 (Smelecom/DP4 can do by OBD2 very fast). Original carprog with ram activation can do it via obd or on table. Some people also have done them on the bench ,so if you have a tool like OBDSTAR Odomaster or AlphOBD you can do it this way on the bench. Odmaster also does 2015- Chrysler 300c cluster with D70F3525 processor.

Program Toyota BB 93LC66 Twist Knob All Keys Lost

 Problem:

Toyota BB 2012 Twist Knob system is supposed to be 4D, I tried Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus, Autel and Xpad and can’t be done by obd2. I take out the immo box and read eeprom 93lc66b but couldn’t open with any option on Key tool plus. Someone has done this job? Which tool or software can do this job?

Solution:
This can’t be done with Key tool plus or VVDI 2.
Put the key in the twist knob, short the ODB pins 4 and 13, and push the twist knob 7 times to force key-on.
After that, put it in registration mode.
Used smart keys cannot be registered without initialization.
To initialize the keyfree ECU, you can use Xtool X100 PAD3 or KPC Pro.
If you enter from Daihatsu with AutoIdol KPC Pro, everything is done via OBD and following the instructions on the tablet will complete the registration.

Lonsdor K518– 

When this device came out a few years ago it was popular in Asia and USA. However, in recent times there has been more clarity and frequent updates. It’s a good all rounder and excellent value for money. Particularly strong in Toyota, Volvo, Fiat and Chrysler and will handle Ford, PSA, VAG and Renault up until 2015 and has many other brands it will cover. Using the emulators, you can do many Toyota all keys lost via OBD.

OBDstar X300 DP Plus – 

Probably the best bang for buck programmer on the market today. A great all-round tool which is known to be strong on Renault, Ford, PSA and Mazda. For a tool of this price to be able to do 2020 Ford Focus and Transit, 2017 Renault lost keys and read a pin from practically any PSA you plug in is unbelievable. Updates are frequent and very much focused on the EU market.

Xtool X100 PAD2 & PAD Elite (PAD3) –

The model range is very confusing as there are many different versions of the same device. The updates are coming thick and fast, 2 years’ worth included from purchase. Really strong on Asian brands, in particular Hyundai, Kia, Honda and Toyota. The recent Ford and Renault updates have been impressive and I expect many more updates over the next few months. The Pad Elite (PAD3) is compatible with the KC501 and can program Mercedes keys very fast, so for the money it’s a good tool. Not quite as refined as some other devices but once you find your way around it’s a solid machine.

Autel IM608 Pro (IM608) –

I have mixed feelings on this device, in some respects I think it’s excellent as it has such a broad coverage and the user interface is great. It has without doubt some of the most powerful diagnostic capabilities available from an all round “scanner” (whether you would use even 20% as a locksmith is debatable). However, if you don’t need high end diagnostic functions, I think it’s a lot of money for a key programmer. As with most devices, there is a heavy reliance on server calculations and this is where Autel suffers. There are so many occasions where the servers are so overloaded that programming cannot be carried out, or takes extremely long.

BossComm KMAX-850 –

This is a new device in the UK that many haven’t seen. Some of you may remember a diagnostic tool many years ago by BossComm, it was a good device in its day and this is from the same developer. For the surprisingly low cost of this tool it is very reliable and has great coverage. I used it on a Ford Focus 2019 spare key as a test and was surprised how well it worked. It is based on the Linux platform and has less reliance on the internet so it’s a good tool as a backup and comes with a pre-coding device. It’ll do VAG, Ford, Fiat, Honda and many more brands quite easily.

Zed-FULL – 

Every practising auto locksmith in the country should have heard of the Zed-FULL. For some people it is still the first tool they would plug in, for others it is a last resort. Without doubt it is a powerful device with a huge coverage, very easy to use and a plethora of functions. It is a token-based device and can work out very expensive, in today’s market I think token machines are only worth having if they do something other machines do not. A few years ago, that may have been the case with the Zed-FULL, but certainly not now. The other downside is that on some vehicles you must use an IEA key/remote so your hands are tied.

Smart Pro –

As most users found out the hard way, this device was released prematurely and left a lot of upset customers who had traded in a working device for a device still under development. I think that has changed now, it is much more reliable and has one of the best user interfaces of any of the devices mentioned. It is very good on Ford and can do AKL on Renault Trafic 2015- without bricking the BCM. It has a broad coverage and is easy to use, however it is token based so an expensive tool to use constantly. A good tool for a beginner, but still quite expensive for what it is actually capable of.

The $500 or less Xtool D7, D8, D9, D9 Pro can do CanFD, even 2023. (Stand alone the D8 & D9 ) (with CanFD the D7). X100 PAD3, A80, A80 Pro will also do this.

D7 does this fine. The D7 didn’t have the CAN FD so you had to get a different cable and use Xtool CAN FD adapter.

There’s no provision to get the pin from General Motors. I’d get a Xtool programmer (I’ve used D7 and D8). The D8 is a bit easier to get going but I’d also consider a D7s as it says it has Can-Fd built in. I did 3 of these today with my D8. Check It out, there was a small issue but it ended up working fine.

Yes Basic, (despite what the CanFD tools sales website says) can do CANFD PROTOCOLS with the CANFD ADAPTER.
app basic with regular cord then canfd adaptor to Obd.
Must have good cellular/internet connection. We had trouble pulling the pin using mifi Internet boxed but works? fine on cellular hotspot (we all have iPhones with the “Maximum Compatibility” option selected).
I purchased the Xtool CanFD Adapter and together with the Xtool Auto ProPad Basic I was able to program a 2021 Cadillac CT5 today. Same Process as usual GM vehicles with the CanFD adapter.

 

 

4). SPS2

Can be done with sps2, no need code or nastf. Only subscription.

Autel IM508/IM608+ Gbox2

You can do it with im508/im608 & G-Box2 just have to do the same kind of dance with battery cables and crap. Autel doesn’t work with xhorse bypass cable. when using autel for Ford akl you need to use the gbox2.

Hook up the gbox2 in series with the obd2 cable and provide an external 12vc source to the gbox2 and proceed with disconnect battery as stated in all keys lost instructions.

Connect a 12v wire (12v power supply) to an extension cord from the inverter. Connected the gbox2 to the obd and the im508. Then just do step by step from what it says. And yes the alarm was active before you started.

Machine gives you instructions. If it’s with alarm active there is a process to wait for ten minutes and you will hear a beep after that you have 1 minute to program the key.

Smart pro, or wait 10 min with door open and key in ignition. Wait for the honk and you will have 1 min to program key, if you don’t then you have to start again.

FYI:

There is a much easier way to program these ford’s with active alarm.
Simply, lock door using screwdriver
Put power to J2534 or directly to tool.
Remove battery terminal.
Replace battery terminal.
Wait 10-15 minutes until.you hear 2 beeps.
Then begin programming.
The only thing that this device does is to maintain voltage to tool while battery is disconnected.

 

 

8.

Turn the alarm off with the door key pad

Code is printed on the security module on all fords.  You do not necessarily have to have a key turned on to read the door code. turn on flashers to wake the modules up and load vehicle up manually and then go into the bcm and read the code.

It’s in the reverse side of this fuse box/bcm/sjb under the drivers side, left of the pedals.
