Audi MLB 2023+ Key Programming Precautions

 The current key programming process for VW/Audi MLB system (most devices only do add key) is:

• 1. Disassemble the customer’s original key.
• 2.Use MLB tool (Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool, KYDZ MLB Tool or Keydiy KD-MP MLB Tool) to read and calculate the CS from the key (this applies to MLB vehicles like the Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche, and Audi). After a successful calculation, this data can be used to generate a dealer key and be learned.

However, vehicles with the MLB system from 2023 onwards are somewhat different from previous ones. You can only use the calculated data to generate a key, but you cannot perform the learning process. While you can still calculate the CS data from an existing key, this data can no longer be used to directly “learn” a new key onto the vehicle via aftermarket tools. 

Therefore, for programming keys on post-2023 MLB Audi vehicles, the current procedure is to:

Method 1:

First, record all the original key IDs from the vehicle. Then, use a brand new original (OEM) key with an uninitialized ID (FFFFFFFF) to generate an OEM key, or directly use an aftermarket MLB key that allows its ID to be changed to generate a key with the ID of the customer’s lost key.

Finally, use original manufacturer’s equipment (ODIS) to perform the key learning.

Method 2:

Another method is to find someone to unlock the SFD (Sicherheitsfahrbereitschaft – Security Vehicle Readiness) security gateway on the vehicle. After the SFD is removed, you have a half-hour window to use MLB devices (VVDI2/Key Tool Plus/KD-X4 etc) to perform the key learning.

 

Here is an example showing how to unlock VAG SFD then add key with KD-X4 key programmer.

The SFD unlock token was provided by a 3rd party technician (via WeChat: geko12345 ).

How to Add VAG Porsche MLB Key with Keydiy KD-X4 and KD-MP?

 

For 2023 onwards Audis, you can only use keys whose ID can be changed. The new key’s ID must be changed to that of the lost key ID. Then, use the CS and password read from the original key to generate the dealer key. You cannot arbitrarily generate a key with a different ID.

How to Add 2024 Porsche Cayenne MLB Key with Keydiy KD-X4?

 Keydiy released a new KD-MP tool for VAG Porsche MLB and MQB48 immo systems. Here is an example of adding a spare key to a Porsche Cayenne 2024 with the KD-MP tool.

A similar procedure goes for other MLB models.

Procedure:

Part 1: Collect Key Data & Generate Dealer Key with KD-MP

Disassemble the original MLB key.

Run KD-X4 software App.
Go to Programming function- KD-MP function.

Check wiring diagram.

Select the one that matches the MLB key.
Here the key board is the same as type 5 wiring.

Need to remove 2 capacitors and solder two wires (VCC and GND).

Solder the adapter with original key.

Connect the solder adapter with KD-MP, connect the KD-MP tool to computer via type C usb cable, connect 12v power supply to the KD-MP.


Put the original board to the induction coil of KD-MP.

Run KD-MP App.

1.Identify the Key
Read key information.
It reads key ID, status, part number etc.

2. Collect key data.

It will deduct 200 coins.
Calculating data.
Collect key data successfully.
You will receive a verification code.

The verification code can be used to generate dealer key and learn key.

Record the verification code. If you forget the code, you can check the collection history and find the code.

3. Generate dealer key
The next step is to generate the dealer key.
Put the KD MLB key to the coil.

Press Generate dealer key.
Enter the verification code to generate key.

Generate dealer key successfully.

Part 2: Learn MLB key with KD-X4

Now we need to learn the KD MLB key with KD-X4.
We need to unlock the SFD gateway and unlock cluster for this model. Otherwise, we cannot learn key. For other models that don’t need to unlock SFD and cluster, just proceed the Key Learning procedure.
Go to KD-X4 app.
Select IMMO Programming- Porsche- MLB Immobilizer System-Start execution- SFD Unlock.

Select Unlock gateway.



Turn on the ignition switch
Confirm VIN.

You need to copy the SFD code to 3rd party to get unlock token.

Input unlock token and unlock SFD gateway.

Then unlock the instrument cluster.

Follow similar process to unlock cluster.

You should perform the related operation within 90 minutes.

Select Key learning.

Turn off the air conditioner and open the engine hood.

Enter number of keys to learn. Here 2 keys need to learn.

Enter the verification code we get from KD-MP tool.

Learn key 1, then 2.

Finish key learning.

Test both keys.
