Xtool X100 PAD2 vs. Autel MK808

 All lots of people asking the difference between Autel MaxiCOM MK808 and Xtool x100 pad2.  Check the comparison below. Hope it helps.

xtool-x100-pad2-vs-mk808

Immobilizer key programming:

MK808 didn’t program certain keys when it came to like a Toyota Prius lost all keys. (not sure for the feature updates), it cannot do BMW, VAG models. The x100 pad2 can do it. The reason why people buy it because this one can program fobs like wireless fobs which all new cars come with nowadays where it has the wireless fob. This machine programs them flawlessly.

X100 pad2 does program keys for BMW.  But it cannot do Benz.  Xtool does work on Lexus but mk808 wasn’t.

MaxiCOM MK808 regular keys programming has worked out flawlessly. This one has programmed regular keys quickly, but the process on x100pad2 has been a lot faster.

If you are looking for something to program all keys and different thing like that I would go with x100 pad2.  Because this one programs more vehicles than mk808. x100 pad2 it is more level for like a shop if you don’t like keys and stuff for shopping. If you want something for you regular fo at home mechanic person or have limited budget, you can get mk808.

Diagnosis & Special functions:

xtool x100 pad2 has common diagnosis of the car like scanning oil system, these are both all system scanners.

They both have the battery reset, when it comes to German cars where you can reset the throttle, mk808 has it as well.

with MK808 I have programmed the tire pressure sensor on a 2013 Acura TL the wheel speed sensor. Xtool also do TPMS reset, I didn’t try it.

They both have SAS steering angle reset function. The x100 pad2 failed on the Acura but the cheaper MK808 goes perfectly fine on this.

they also have battery reset function.

but mk808 has a few more settings that xtool doesn’t have.  They added in all the time with the updates.

autel-mk808-special-functions-1

autel-mk808-special-functions-2

xtool-x100-pad2-special-functions

Update:

Mk808 has a lots of updates. Xtool does have updates but not frequently as Autel.

MK808 annual software update subscription: $129 (1 year free update)

X100 pad2 annual software update subscription: $400 (2 years free update)

Price:

The price of mk808 and the price of x100 pad2 is night and day now.

MK808: $449

X100 pad2 full: $949, basic version: $729

Suggestion:

Xtool x100 pad 2 is not a bad machine, it works great and very quickly. It is a lot faster because it is a higher-level tablet and it has a faster processer.

mk808-menu

autel mk808 diagnostic system works great, it is color vibrant, picture looks like better, the setting is better.  There are a bunch of cars that this one is capable of doing key programming as long as a key has a blade.  But it cannot program wireless fobs.

xtool x100 pad2 is focusing on just the keys, mk808 is great at scanning systems also great at programming keys.

xtool x100 pad2 also comes with a set of different adapters for different cars. mk808 does not.
xtool also has EEPROM function can read eeprom, mk808 does noot.

If you want always updates, MK808 is your choice.

If you want to do regular blade key programming, go for MK808. If need to do wireless key (fobs), x100 pad2 is your choice.

Repair Corrupted BMW CAS3 Data with Hextag

 Sometimes BMW CAS3+ eeprom data is corrupted after bad reflash/downgrading and there is no communication with it and no ignition on car. Many devices will kill CAS3+ when downgrading via OBD, Xhorse VVDI2, Yanhua ACDP, IM608, AVDI even Autohex II without a sufficient power supply.

bmw-cas3-data-corrupt

If done via obd, 14.2 always with maintainer. If data is corrupted, no need to make backup, even if something happened OBD without backup you can repair it in hextag.

How do I recover data/restore with Hexprog? What is the procedure to repair CAS corruption? under what option?

Hextag has an option for this can change from programming mode to normal mode probably happens when downgrades fail. You can read eeprom and check CAS in programming mode or normal mode.  edit option in eeprom and you need to write another flash also.

If you have autohex you can check on it first if can solve it OBD itself.  When it comes to Hextag you can check from edit option in EEPROM if CAS in programming mode or normal mode. If in programming change it to normal and write eeprom back. Also you need to change Flash.

hextag-repair-bmw-cas3-data-1

hextag-repair-bmw-cas3-data-2

Try to recover the original CAS with following steps:

Find good flash file from same part number CAS. Write it to CAS using hexprog.

Read original eeprom, change line 0F90 (first three columns) to DA AA 55, write back.

Perform individual programming (using key programmer on bench).

CAS should be alive after this.

These step should bring the CAS back to life. Now you can learn new key (sometimes you don’t need DME ISN) but it may ask you for ISN which autohex ii and some other devices can extract DME ISN for you.

Review:

With HEXTAG, successfully repaired a corrupted CAS 3+ after a bad ISTA/P update.

Which Tool to Program Renault Clio 4 2017 All Keys Lost?

 Car model and year:

Clio 4 2017 AKL, the card Hitag AES 7953

Purpose:

Try to make dealer card.

I had 2 genuine renewed cards with Keydiy both is the same

How to do? Here are some reviews for sharing:

Review 1.

Done a 2014 with 4a.

Had with original renewed, it didn’t worked. Next day had one brand new aftermarket worked no problems.

Review 2.

Last week i’ve renewed two Clio IV cards (pcf7953 ID4A) with Vvdi Keytool and programmed to two different cars: one was Captur and one Clio IV. Programmed with Autel IM608 without problems, and i haven’t made dealer key, i’ve always programmed Renault cards without precoding them, both renewed or aftermarket..

Captur was 2015 and Clio 2016, Autel programmed no problem without any precoding. When it asks if I need to make dealer key i press No and normally programmed.
Also done a Clio 2018 with an aftermarket card without precoding

Good to know:

No need to precode if you add card

When is AKL you need to pre code the card

That is the way that SmartPro work on the Autel I can’t trust for this car AKL and think that can’t do AKL by OBD.

==== If you have VVDI mini Key tool with renew cable they work ok for unlock clio4 card’s. Tested and work 100%.

Review 3.

Those Clio and Captur after 2015 are a big mystery. I’ve seen and experienced by myself similar problems. Zed-Full, Lonsdor and even R.E.T couldn’t program card (same type error message like ‘wrong card’ ). Try renolink, it seems reliable… But you need PIN code read by other tools first.

Yanhua Simulator Chip for 35128WT and 35160WT

 User feedback: Yanhua YH35XX Programmer + Simulator Chip works perfectly with 35128WT (mileage reset), but does not work with 35160WT. How to solve the problem?

Yanhua chief engineer replied:

If the 8th pin of the 35160WT chip is 5V, you need another emulator chip, which is compatible with both 35128WT and 35160WT.

VW Passat CC (B6) Key Learning by VVDI2

 Problem: want to learn a second key to the car VW Passat CC (B6), have the original key, I hooked up Xhorse VVDI2 and somewhere in the learning process things got mixed up and from where things went wrong. Ignition stays off, steering lock is on/active/locked, B/W screen in middle of instrument cluster says “Immobilizer active” (see figure1.png)

VW Passat CC (B6) Key Learning by VVDI2 1

I removed the BCM behind the dash panel and read the 95320 eeprom. Passed the bin-file (see dumpBCM.zip) to VVDI2 which gave me the following info:

-> PIN: xxxxx

-> CS: 29 C2 07 50 xx xx xx

I forced ignition to the ECU by bridging the main relais and giving power to fuse 10 on the left of the dash. After that I could do a PIN and CS extraction from the ECU with VVDI2. This gave me the following info:

-> PIN: xxxxx

-> CS: 29 C2 07 50 xx xx xx/xx

From the key learning option in VVDI2, I entered the security code manually and extracted the security code via de “autodetect pin/cs” button after forcing ignition by the main relais and power to fuse 10. As soon as I select “Learn”, it tries to get security access and says it fails. I noticed that the “Lock time” to accept the “Login (pin)” is set to 10 minutes (see purple rectangle in figure2.png).

According to the description of VVDI2 it should count back to 0. So I left it overnight and the “Login (pin)” still says 10 minutes and doesn’t count back after leaving it there for approximately 8 hours.

VW Passat CC (B6) Key Learning by VVDI2 2

Furthermore I tried to adapt the original key (key with which the car came in) with ODIS. It says:

Code:

The anti-theft immobilizer control module could not be adapted. The following error occured: ERROR_NRC_RequiredTimeDelayNotExpired:ServiceID:ResponseCode. The adaption will be canceled. End of test

I noticed the following, if I give ignition to the ECU (bridge main relais and give power to fuse 10) the B/W screen of the instrument cluster:

-> keeps alternating from “immobilizer active!” to “key not found”

-> gives me the “0-1”, typical for key learning.

(see figure3.png)

VW Passat CC (B6) Key Learning by VVDI2 3

If I insert the original key (key with wich the car came in) the instrument cluster stays in the aforementioned state.

According to the documentation of VVDI2 there a two types of transponders for this Passat CC;

-> type 1: 46 chip which can be learned with the 7th bit of CS set to FF

-> type 2: 48 chip which must be learned with the 7th bit of CS from the BCM 95320 eeprom dump

I put the original key in the VVDI2, this gave me the following info:

-> transponder: PCF 7936

-> Model: Manchester

-> Status: Locked

So I think this is a 46 chip.

I tried to make a dealer key with VVDI2 with both type of transponders, 46 chip with 7th bit set to FF and 48 chip with 7th bit set to 0E. These procedure finished correctly. After that I tried to insert them in the ingnition switch while instrument cluster

-> keeps alternating from “immobilizer active!” to “key not found”

-> gives me the “0-1”, typical for key learning.

None of these attempts led to a change of state messages on the instrument cluster.

Finally! Worked

Today I received the non-oem-key and learned it to the car for immo, keyless entry and keyfob.

Some notes:
-> if car has keyless entry the chip needed in the key is ID46/PCF 7936

-> If you messed up and engine needs to start, you can prepare a PCF 7936 transponder and learned that to the car through: vvdi2 -> transponder programmer -> immobilizer data tool -> load BCM eeprom dump -> make dealer key -> save adapted BCM eeprom dump back to BCM. Build BCM back in the car, insert the key with the prepared PCF 7936 transponder (instrument cluster stays black) -> wait a few seconds -> remove key and insert key again; ignition should then go on and one should be able to start the car.

-> if during the learning process a wrong key is inserted there is a very good chance that all learned keys are turned to “not used” in the BCM eeprom and ignition can’t be turned on anymore with all keys.

-> if, after messing up, you need to put ignition on to read pin and CS from engine ECU, put power to fuse 10 in the fusebox on the left side of the dashboard. This goes for a Passat CC buildyear 2008. You should check if this applies to your Passat (CC).

-> I learned the non-oem-key (immo and keyless entry) in a two-step process:
step 1: make a dealer key through: vvdi2 -> transponder programmer -> immobilizer data tool from the BCM eeprom dump
step 2: learn the dealer key through: vvdi2 -> VW -> key learn -> key learn. Enter the number of keys to be learned and the security code and hit “learn key” in the left bottom and follow instructions. After that both the immo and keyless entry part are learned.

-> it is perfectly normal that the keyfob of the keyless entry key can’t be learned through the regular VAG-keyfob adaption procedure. This is because the keyfob is learned during the immo-keylearning procedure.

-> the PCF 7936 transponder prepared with VVDI2 as a dealer key can be “virginized/unlocked” again through vvdi2 -> transponder programmer -> other key tool -> Unlock–PassatB6/CC 46transponder key (need 6bytes CS)

Hope it helps!
