Flex GM Delco E88 Unlock Option inactivate Solution

Here is a customer’s experience using Magic Motorsport FLEX programmer to unlock a GM Delco E88 ECM.

 

Problem:

Flex read Delco E88 ECM MAPS ok, Read MAPS & CODE ok, but the unlock option is inactive.
The maps and maps & code write back buttons are also inactive.

Solution:

Attach to ticket in MMS, send them the read and they will sort you out quick.

 

Update and report: 

He finished the car and he was able to write the data back.

Important!:

If the virtual read option is available for OBD ON BENCH connection, only then will the UNLOCK function be enabled.

If the virtual maps are not available, the UNLOCK function will not work either.

In this case, the maps content (reading time: 26 minutes) and the maps & code content (reading time: 3 hours) must be read. These files and the FLEX SOFTWARE LOG data must be sent to Magic support to create a VIRTUAL READ and an UNLOCK authorization for the HW and SW number of the given engine controller.

Wait about 40 minutes after sending the files for them to solve this. Then the VIRTUAL READ and UNLOCK functions appeared in the flex software! And after unlocking, he was able to write properly in OBD ON BENCH mode. He did not try the regular OBD mode.
