Tutorial: How to set up and connect Topdon Rlink device with Porsche PIWIS III diagnostic software.
Compatible devices:
Topdon Rlink Lite/Rlink X7/Rlink J2534 with Porsche License
Procedure:
Download and install Rlink Platform driver from Topdon official website (CHECK HERE).
Connect Rlink device with laptop and vehicle.
Run Rlink Platform driver.
If the connection is normal, it will display that both the vehicle and the device are connected.
Click Driver Management– Driver Info.
Check whether the driver is downloaded.
The driver has been downloaded, click the driver to view the driver description.
There are two driver modes for Porsche:
For vehicle model diagnostics using the Rlink device, select Rlink mode.
For diagnostics using the OEM PT3G device, select PT3G mode.
That means Topdon Rlink can not only be used as emulator but also as a J2534 passthru device.
Here we select Rlink mode.
Close Topdon Platform driver.
Double click the software icon to open the PIWIS III.
It is normal to see VCI not connected here. Click Diagnostics to perform VCI diagnosis.
After successful identification, click Continue to proceed with diagnosis.
The reading is complete. Select one or more modules to read the relevant fault codes.
