BMW Continental MSV90 DMEs store the TriCore password in their flash memory. To clone BMW MSV90 ECUs, it also has to transfer over the tricore password. It is crucial not to alter or overwrite this portion when performing ECU Cloning Job.
Here we list top tools that will clone BMW MSV90 DME perfectly.
1. OBDSTAR DC706
DC706 will do individual read and write MSV90, it can extract ISN code.
To clone BMW MSV90 DME, you need a full read/write. DC706 adds “Read All Data” and “Write All Data” options in recent updates.
BMW MSV90 Cloning: Read-write DC706 successful.
2. Launch X431 IMMO Plus/IMMO Elite or Launch X431 ECU Programmer or PAD V/PAD VII+ X-prog3
Steps to perform a successful MSV90 cloning using LAUNCH:
Go to IMMO Prog->Engine-> Siemens-> MSV90
Check wiring diagram.
Connect the original MSV90 ECU to Launch device.
Read and back up eeprom and flash of the original DME.
Disconnect.
Connect donor DME, read and back up eeprom and flash of the donor DME.
Restore eeprom and restore flash data to the donor MSV90 ECU.
3. HexProg II
Hexprog II is the best one for BMW DME cloning.
HexProg II is highly recommended as it ensures the preservation of the ECU password during the cloning process. An appealing aspect of HexProg II is its ability to clone the MSV90 ECU in Bench Mode, eliminating the need to physically open the ECU cover. By following the provided software wiring instructions and connecting the corresponding wires to the ECU pins, successful cloning can be achieved.
HexProg II Tuner software also features a special function called READ ISN. This function enables users to retrieve the MSV90 DME ISN (Internal Security Number) in both Bench and Boot Modes, extending its support for cloning purposes.
It is crucial to safeguard the password of the ECU during cloning. To address this requirement, HexProg II offers a dedicated clone button that facilitates the safe and secure cloning of MSV90 ECUs.
Steps to perform a successful MSV90 cloning using HexProg II:
- Launch the HexProg II Tuner software and select the MSV90 ECU and proceed by selecting the bench mode.
- Begin by creating backups of both the original and donor MSV90 ECUs.’You can access the connection from the “wiring” button’.
- Connect the original MSV90 ECU to HexProg II and click the “Clone” button to begin the cloning process.
- The software will prompt you to select the original MSV90 ECU. Follow the on-screen instructions to choose the correct ECU.
- Once the software reads the data from the original MSV90 ECU, it will ask you to connect the donor MSV90 ECU.
- Connect the donor MSV90 ECU to HexProg II, and then proceed with the cloning process by clicking the “OK” button in the HexProg II Tuner software.
- The software will transfer the data from the original ECU to the donor ECU without modifying the password stored within the donor ECU.
- Wait for the cloning process to complete. The duration may vary depending on the data size.
- Once the cloning process finishes, the software will notify you of the successful completion. Disconnect both the original and donor ECUs from HexProg II. Test the cloned ECU by installing it in the vehicle. Ensure it functions properly and meets your requirements.
4. CG FC200 or AT-200
FC200 is a cheap option and works like a charm.
Always use fc200 for bmw job it’s more better. But they are charging for update.
The gen1 vvdi prog is not possible to clone MSV90, the gen2 multi prog does.
Example:
2011 x3 n52 motor MSV90
Did ECU cloning bench mode.
Work good.
6. Yanhua Mini ACDP
ACDP will also clone Siemens/Continental DME without soldering. Requires Module 27 and MSV90 interface board.
